Rebecca Karenin

I was first introduced to Pilates in 1990 after suffering an injury while studying dance. After I refused the suggested operation that would have put an end to my desired career, I was advised to try Pilates as part of a rehabilitation programme.

I went on to dance professionally for ten years without further injury.

These days my dancing is restricted to anonimity of the club dance floor, and after practising Pilates for fifteen years I decided to train as a teacher. After passing the examinations in anatomy and completing a year of teacher training apprenticeship I set up my own company in 2005.

Professional Dancer

From 1990-2000 I worked mainly in television and theatre, appearing in London’s West End in such shows as Starlight Express and the Royal Variety Performance, performing on television with the likes of Simply Red and PJ and Duncan (yes, the pre-jungle incarnation of Ant and Dec!), appearing live with other acts including Alison Limerick and the James Taylor Quartet, and somewhere along the way found myself working as Barry Manilow’s choreographer.

I am most proud of my starring role on Spitting Image as the roller-skating Queen Elizabeth II.
